Application CV + 2 references + Cover letter to careers@graphenicalab.com
Application deadline 31/05/2026

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Researcher / Project Leader to lead the development of next-generation graphene-based electrochemical and capacitive biosensing devices.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced researcher with strong expertise in nanomaterials, electrochemical sensing, and device fabrication. The selected candidate will supervise research activities while actively contributing to lab-based development, characterization, and process optimization.

The position is ideal for a PhD-level scientist with a strong track record in biosensor development, graphene or rGO materials, translational research, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the development of graphene and reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-based electrochemical sensing platforms.
  • Design, fabricate, and optimize flexible and printed electronic biosensing devices.
  • Oversee electrode functionalization strategies (e.g., bio-based modification, surface chemistry).
  • Perform and supervise electrochemical characterization (EIS, cyclic voltammetry, capacitive sensing).
  • Coordinate laboratory workflows from material synthesis to device validation.
  • Define and implement quality control protocols to ensure reproducibility and performance standards.
  • Contribute to process optimization and scale-up strategies for industrial translation with the Manufacturing Line.
  • Supervise junior researchers, MSc/PhD students, and technical staff.
  • Support intellectual property generation (patents) and scientific dissemination.
  • Collaborate with academic and industrial partners to align R&D with commercialization goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • PhD in Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in biosensor development and electrochemical sensing platforms.
  • Proven experience with graphene and/or reduced graphene oxide materials.
  • Strong expertise in electrochemical techniques (EIS, CV, impedance-based sensing).
  • Experience in device fabrication (microfabrication, thin films, paper-based electrodes, or printed electronics).
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising research projects or students.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications and/or patents.
  • Fluency in English (Spanish and/or Catalan are a plus).

We strongly value:

Experience developing graphene-based electrochemical device platforms.

Strategic and critical thinking.

Proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
